Last year, while on a Xeriscape tour I fell in love with this bird house fence. I love birds and I collect bird houses, so this year I thought.... why not try my hand at this?? While I prefer the more natural look of the tour fence, my fence is white and my bird houses are colorful, so I decided to work with that. Besides, this corner is VERY dark and shady (it's my secret retreat... sh... don't tell) and needed some color to add some life. I name all my gardens, and this was "Pooky's Garden," named after a dear cat whose ashes are there. Although it will always be that to me, I've decided to name it my "Critter Corner," since I place all sorts of little animals and hokey things around in it. A House and Beautiful display it ain't, but it gives me great pleasure and brings a smile to my eyes. I love to sit here and relax and solve all my problems. (If only.)

I like your "Critter Corner" and I think you've out done your inspiration garden. I name my gardens, too. The overall garden...May Dreams Gardens, of course!
Bev,
that's a fabulous idea to arrange bird houses on the fence. I love the way they look and I would love to do it myself, but I don't have a solid fence. I especially love the white fence, combined with the green foliage and the blue accents. It makes for a nice and cooling effect.
I'm glad you liked my pictures from Estes Park. We had so much fun, and the surroundings were spectacular.
I'm with Carol! Your Critter Corner is much nicer than the inspiration garden. More colorful and a reflection of the gardener who created it.
Bev, I love your shady garden retreat. I also agree with the others, I like yours better. The white fence gives a crisp and clean look and is a perfect backdrop for your colorful birdhouse collection. I prefer this to the rustic worn look.
Thank you..thank you...thank you,
Carol, Ellen, OldRoses, and Robin!! Your comments make me feel very rewarded. I have since added a couple more critters and will take another photo when the hostas are more along in the season. This is the last area of the yard to warm up and start growing.
Love that Critter Corner! And good thinking on the painting the fence white. Much better that way in such a dark and shady area.
Are you kidding? It looks like House Beautiful to me! Love how you've taken an inspiration and personalized it, very nice.
